Long drive to Delhi - 22 : Om Beach, Gokarna, Karnataka

From Jog Falls we had planned to go to Goa. As the distance was approx 250 km with a part of it in hilly areas we decided to take a shelter for the night somewhere in the middle. Intermitent rains also hampered the journey. Local enquiries & Google search revealed that Gokarna could be an option & our guess proved right.

Om Beach is in a small temple town Gokarna which is a part of Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka state. It is about 600 km from Bangalore & 240 km north of Mangalore & is situated in between two rivers Gangavali & Agnashini on the lush green Karwar coast.

Gokarna Beach is a place of pilgrimage similar to Haridwar in the northern India. There are several other beaches which are secluded, beautiful & unspoilt as yet & Om Beach is one of them.

We stayed in a beach resort though no booking had earlier been made, & had nice time. Noon is hot & direct sun burns the skin. Mornings & evenings are cool with sea breeze in full swing. Budget & luxury accommodations are available. I would like to rate Om Beach as 4/5. Some photos:
